Why make accessible web sites?

Making content accessible to people with disabilities is another mark of the good web designer. It is also a requirement for government websites in many parts of the world.
In 1999 the W3C published the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0, which explains how to make Web content accessible to people with disabilities.
